I am a psychologist who started working at Oxford Brookes in January this year. Ever since I got to know Ethel, the midwife who established BirthLink with neonatal nurse practitioner Kathy Mellor, I have been impressed by the charity’s commitment. I want to help the charity to grow, and continue their amazing work to help women and babies. So, I have decided to run the 2008 adidas Women’s 5K Challenge in Hyde Park, London on 7^th September! Initiation of breastfeeding within the 1st hour of birth is the first and most vital step towards reducing infant and under-five mortality, by reducing the overwhelmingly high neonatal mortality rate. The Boreas quintet generously staged a concert to support BirthLink. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening which took place in the beautiful Holywell Music Room. We also took the opportunity to update people on BirthLink’s development one year on from our launch.
